Extinguisher Clyinder Pressure Test after Crush
1. Scope
This guideline specified the cylinder test method and evaluation for the fire extinguisher cylinders. This guideline is
suitable to the pressure test for fire extinguisher cylinder designed and manufactured as per EN3-3 , the cylinders
should be completed crushing test.
2. Test Equipment & Facilities
2.1 The testing stand is requested to ensure the cylinders without any extra stress.
2.2 Cylinder filling device and test fixture are in the good status .
2.3 Electrical testing pump. The water shall be clean, transparent, no suspending substance.
2.4Pressure gauge, the precision shall be higher than grade 1.5, ranged with 4 Mpa
3. Sampling Requirement and Test Procudure
3.1 This pressure test shall test the cylinders one by one;
3.2 Connect and tighten the cylinder which are filled with water to the connector of the test fixture;
3.3 Open the elecical testing pump, fill the compressed air to 1.4 Mpa(370 Psi), then start to relieve the pressure;
3.4 Then repeat the test procudure for couple of times till reduce the rest of air inside of cylinder. After then
gradually raise the pressure up to 2.3 Mpa. keep the pressure for 30 seconds, carefully observe if there is any leak
bulbs and abnormal phenomenon.
3.5 Open the air valve to release the pressure. When the pressure reduced to 0, open the fixture and lift the
cylinder out of the water;
3.6 Demount the cylinder form the fixture.
4. Evaluation
Qualification standard: Under 2.3 Mpa (300psi), no leakage and visual deform is observed, then , then cylinder is
considered qualified, otherwise, it is not qualified and shall be rejected.
5. Record the test result.
