Air & Water Test for Cylinder
1.Scope
This guideline specified the Air&Water test requirement and the method for fire extinguisher cylinders, suitable to the
Air&Water test for the cylinders designed & manufactured as per EN3-3 and tested according to TRG760 Sandard.
2.Sample
The 1 st cylinder and 1 from 1000 manufactured subsequently in the same lot shall be taken for the burst test;
3.Test Equipment and Fixture
3.1 Test Equipment: Electric testing pump and fittings, connecting pipings;
3.2 Measuring instruments: pressure gauge with precision higher than Grade 1.5, testing ranged is limited more than 15 Mpa (5700 Psi);
3.3 Air pump setting: it shall ensure that air entried into the cylinder is o.67times of testing pressure, approximately 1.54 Mpa.
3.4 Special fitting for make sure the burst site safe.
4.Test Method and Procedure
4.1Connect the cylinder with the test fixture. It is very important to make sure the connection is guaranteed to avoid the leakage which will cause the test fail;
4.2 Start to fill Nitrogen or cleaned compressed air into the cylinder till the pressure up to 1.54 Mpa, and close the inlet vlave.
4.3 Put the cylinder with filled air or nitrogen into an iron cage which would be absolutely security as the cylinder bursted;
5.Open the testing pump, water the cylinder when increase the pressure. It wouldn't relieve pressure untill the cylinder bursted.
6.Record the test result. Be careful to observe whether there is any fragment made when the cylinder is bursted. during the increase pressure procedure. Finall, make the Timer & Pressure chart.
